A lot of people have been bitten by the MMO bug so it seemed like only a short while until something of this nature would appear on iOS.
For those of you uninitiated in the MMO game scene, it's where you get to create a character which hails from one of three factions. Once you're happy with the appearance and ability of the chosen character (e.g. warrior, cleric, magician, archer) you get to pick a name which ends up being your unique identity within the community - so pick carefully and try to be original as a lot of names have gone already. Once you're ready, you get plunged into the mix of things without much of any ceremony.
As with any MMO game, you have a home area which is where you can meet with other players and unite for missions or buy critical upgrades and supplies or store any recovered winnings and weapons for another day. As with MMOs you get to play alongside or against a mixture of real and AI characters and it will promptly get you hooked both in terms of battling and socialising.
There are two servers, one in Japan and the other in the US. I found the US one crashed and was empty so I had to make do with the other, which meant due to my poor Japanese, I could only get into the fighting rather than planning and conversing - which suited me just fine!
Within seconds I was instantly able to battle with slime, goblins and other monsters and at first it did take a bit of getting used to, in terms of the controls and camera movements, but it wasn't too shabby although the auto-aim was a little cumbersome and I did find some interesting glitches which resulted in my character firing high up to the sky at monsters suspended in mid air above me.
Ultimately, this game is pretty entertaining and did offer a good MMO experience. The loading times initially did take a while to download and install the various things - but once this was done the app loaded and worked each time. As with any game of this type, the more you put into it the more you will get out of it. The one main sticking point other than the glitches are the worlds and levels aren't that expansive or that different - but it would be harsh to compare it to similar games on your PC.
